FICTION SAYS: AU REVOIR LE CROSS
The farewell press release we wrote when Fiction left The Cross was a tough one to reel off, and we didn’t think for a minute we’d be writing similar literature so soon. Fear not folks, this Press Release is not about Fiction at The Island, but it’s sad news for its former home – The Cross.
Rumours have been afoot for some time as to the future of The Cross and Canvas with the massive re-development of the area, and the opening of the new Eurostar terminal. Well unfortunately, and after over a decade of nightlife operations that oozes history, The Cross and Canvas are to close.
Friday nights were transformed at the millennium when Fiction opened its doors at the Cross. The start to the weekend was marked by the arrival of the UK’s truly polysexual club, and one that reigned at the top for 7 years consecutively. With time and changing trends, Fiction’s reign at The Cross came to an end, and off it went in search of fresh surroundings resulting in a new home at The Island, which is where it lies now.
When the phone call arrived with an invitation to go back and rock the joint one last time – there was no hesitation in accepting! And so, etch this date in your diaries IMMEDIATELY! Friday 23rd November will be a night to remember as we reminisce with friends old and new, DJs past and present, and a few surprises that’ll have you gasping in awe! In burying hatchets, wiping slates clean and dragging a few of our past spinners out of retirement, mark our words – it’s going to GO OFF big style!
