Wildchild vs Frantic @SE1, London - March 20th 2004
Posted by Bushy on Mar 21, 2004 - 9:00:00 AM

Choose 3 Welshmen, Choose a Volvo S40, Choose Satellite navigation that doesn’t work, Choose a 4.5 hour journey, Choose London, Choose a £80 a night Travelodge, Choose Camden Town, Choose London Bridge, Choose a FUCKING BIG NIGHTCLUB, Choose Frantic, Choose Wildchild, Choose ClubTheWorld’s Arena, Choose PhilB, Choose a night with your best clubbing mates, I chose all of the above, and it went a little like this…………..

It all started at 11:00 on Saturday 20th March 2004, as Shaney_R and myself waited eagerly for the arrival of The Weasel in his S40, ready for the journey down to the Big Smoke. As Shane was in the shower I was cooking egg butties and posting frantically on Clubtheworld chatting about the forthcoming event, which was to be my first ever London meet. There were so many people I hadn’t met from down London way, and also others that I had met, but not chatted to that much, that were also going to this beast of a party.

The Weasel turned up and we set off at approximately 11:30, on a 4.5 hour trek that was to hold many strange things. Including, Articulated Lorries on their sides in the middle of the motorway, extremely strong winds and a wild goose chase to find the Travelodge we were staying in, thanks to the Satellite Navigation. Eventually we arrived, checked in and were on our way to the nearest underground station Aldgate East. During the journey I was inundated with texts from members of CTW such as Ginge, Louise and Shenlong keeping me updated as of their whereabouts.

We arrived into Camden at about 17:30, Shane and Weasel bought a T-shirt each, as we made our way through the market to Lloyds bar over by the Lock. Upon arrival only, the one and only, PhilB, Shenlong, Louise, Pepsi, Titchy and a very messy Ginge greeted us. A few beers later, it was time for us to make a move back to the Travelodge to prepare for the meet up at All Bar One at London Bridge.

After a swift change at the travelodge, we were back on the tube making our way to London Bridge. All Bar One is in the Train station entrance, which we couldn’t find big time, Shenlong was running round like a madman trying to find us, it turns out we were well off the beaten track and on the other side of the station. We eventually caught up with PhilB meeting Liam Styles, and headed off to the Bar where everyone was already getting into the swing of things!

Once inside I met up with Miss Diddy, Maria, James, Stu, Mod1, Kether, Jimmy and others, I’m sorry if I missed you out, there were a lot of people there. As we chatted it became more apparent to me that this was more than just a group of friends meeting up in a pub to go out to a club, it was more like a family, and weasel summed it up when he said to me how friendly everyone was, he said ‘all these people are so friendly, its like they’ve adopted me straight away, and I’ve known them for years’ he had met everyone within the last 2 hours. At CTW meets there are NO arguments, NO hassles just pure love and friendship. You cannot beat that feeling, not in a million years.

We made our way to the venue at 21:30, after realising that the time in all bar one had flown, and that The CTW Dj PhilB was playing at 9…..eek, we were late. Upon entry, we charged through to the CTW hosted room, to find that Phil’s set had been put back an hour. Phew.

So as we piled in, we caught the last half hour or so of Glen Gavin b2b Lippy, which was rather entertaining, in this time I got my bearings in this huge club. SeOne is a monster sized club, which boasts a capacity of 3500, set up in the arches under London Bridge. The best way to describe this venue is awesome, it is a maze of little alleyways that lead from room to room. It is a truly spectacular club.
After visiting the bar and purchasing a Heineken, it was time for The CTW Dj to take to the decks, kicking off with Arome – Hands Up, Phil just went from strength to strength, with super tight mixing and phenomenal timing he ripped the dancefloor to pieces and set the standard for the rest of the night. Remember it was only 10pm, and Phil had that room the busiest it was all night. It was fairly packed in there, I take my hat off to him, as I danced my bollocks off for a solid hour. It was also great to see Phil himself getting into his set so much, and having a stomp himself behind the decks as he mixed from one cracker to the next, his participation with the crowd went down a treat. I do recall him even signing a record for one clubber, a superstar Dj already Phil wink.gif

After Phil’s stormer, I took a hike around the vast building and had a peek into the other rooms, the atmosphere right the way through the venue was supercharged with anticipation of a cracker of a night, you could feel it in the air. Clubbers stomping to Trance, Hard Trance, Hard House and Nrg. Nobody letting up at all, people were here to party and they were gonna make sure they got their moneys worth.

By this time I was getting into a bit of a stupor, and remember getting grabbed by Maria and Miss Diddy, and getting dragged over to the Funky room to see none other than Guy Hornsby, throwing out some beautiful funky sounds, it was a refreshing change from the boom boom of the other arenas. I boogied away for what felt like 10 minutes, but I am told it was much longer, oh how time flies when your having fun.

Once we returned to the CTW room, which is where I spent most of the night, as I didn’t feel the need to go and see the ‘big name’ djs, as the beats where flying out hard and fast, I cannot remember who was playing when, but I know that the sound from there was truly phenomenal, if this is the sound of the future of hard dance then the nu-breed in this room have got a bright future. I sat down and chatted to some of the fellow CTW’ers who were in the room, also signed the happy birthday cards for Shenlong and the lovely Mistress Hoover.

It was fun looking after Maria for about an hour and a half ‘bushy…. I cant feel my face’ also great catching up with James, and watching Ginge pulling faces.
Before I knew what was going on, it was 5am. I was getting dragged into arena 2, to get a dose of Karim, as ever he was having it big time, and I stomped for the last hour.

Once it was all over we all stood around deciding which afterparty we were all going too. Was it gonna be Hardware which was at SeOne? Or was it gonna be a bus journey to Twist? I decided on staying for Hardware, with Miss Diddy, Frazzle, Bungle, Pepsi, Liam, Charlene and Jay amongst others, to have it to TonyP, who unfortunately couldn’t make it to Wildchild. Others such as Jimmy, Highlander, Kether and Tidy_Tart went off to Twist for a smattering of Stirling Moss and the likes. I could tell you all about that, but that’s another story……..

Many Thanks goes out to all the ClubTheWorld Members who attended this event, also big thanks to Wildchild for giving our Dj’s the chance to show there mixing skills at such events. This is the way forward.

Choose Life?

Fuck that…………CHOOSE WILDCHILD!!!!!
