Out Of Order @The Joiners, Southampton - Saturday May 15th 2004
Posted by Maria on May 16, 2004 - 9:00:00 AM

Well this weekend was made a spontaneous one for me. I wasn't planning on doing anything apart from sitting in doing some geek work - but was twisted into a weekend of Madness from the Friday to the Sunday ! yay.gif

Tony.P was playing at The Joiners in Southampton where various people were going along to give some support and watch him show his superb talent.

The night started of a bit edgy for me - feeling fragile from the night before I wasn't sure if I could make it, but knew a few beers would sort that right out - and indeed, it did. beer.gif

A bunch of us met at a local pub where a coach was to pick about 50 of us up and take us to the said venue where Out Of Order were playing and DJ-K B2B with Tony.P. excited.gif

After a few beers at the pub and talking to everyone and have a few laughs, it was hitting on the 18:45 mark where it was time to head down to the coach, hop on and start gearing up for the madness that awaits ahead of us. woot.gif

It took us approximately an hour to get to Southampton, after having a hilarious tour on the bus, it was time to get off and all queue outside ready for the doors to open. We just want to GET IN ! Upon queuing outside, we hear the set up inside, coming alive and the beats streaming through the Foyer of the club. It was hard - and indeed - was to my liking ! happydance.gif

The doors open, tickets at the ready and in we go ! This wasn't a proper nightclub as such, it was a very small venue with a bar at the front with lots of seating area for people to sit, chat and not have to worry about not hearing each other over the music ! It was nice and cool in here and this is where I spent most of the night chilling out and chatting to loads of new people and having the best laughs of the night !

The actual venue where the DJ's played was nice and small. The kind of atmosphere where you 'feel at home'. Not too big and not too empty either. Although I would say the down side of it being as small as it was, as I was on a mission that night to fill my camera to it's full capacity of pictures and video clips of laser shots, there wasn't enough viewage for taking pictures in this small club, so most of the pictures I was taking was mostly of the same people and the same shots but I was more into taking pictures of the DJ's more than anything ! But unfortunatly, due to taking copious ammounts of pictures at a house party the night before, I didn't have enough space to take as many pictures as I would have liked to tonight sad.gif

The lighting upon the DJ booth was spectacular. The lasers were fabulous and really set the night off with a bang ! I suddenly became a 'Laser Gazer' yikes.gif

The night was slowly beginning and DJ-K was up on the decks playing some real good hard house with the Out Of Order lads, and the music was wicked. Nice and hard progressing into nice and bouncy hard house ! yay.gif

I couldn't get into the swing of things just yet so went and chilled in the bar with Bazz (FRAZZLE on CTW) and had the most fun. Rickd and Debbie turned up by surprise and chatted with them for a bit where the laughs commenced amongst a group of us.

The drinks here were a tad expensive, more expensive than I had imagined to be honest. £6 for two bottles of alcohol ! If that's the going rate, then I guess the wallet should come out !

After chilling for a while I decided to go back onto the dance floor and watch people get in with the music. The night had gone seemingly quick up until Tony's set, and by now it was midnight and Tony.P and DJ-K were now up on the stage performing.

I must say, I wasn't over-all impressed with DJ-K's set. His tune selection was great, but his mixing skills just weren’t as professional as they should have been, and he let him self down a bit sad.gif DJ-K is a sound bloke and is always a joy to see !

Tony.P's mixing as always was fantastic. I can honestly say that this was THE BEST set I have ever seen / heard the man play. His tune selection was Amazing; every tune just seemed to rope me into his set. I was just stood on the dance floor with my eyes closed in a Trance for the whole of his set. It was pretty unbelievable. His set seemed VERY euphoric to me and I was loving every single minute of it.

Some of his tunes I didn't even know he had in his box and each tune he played I remember a huge smile being lifted on my face and I would go and chat to people at how much his tunes were making me feel so euphoric inside. ohmy.gif

One tune that REALLY sticks out from that night that Tony played was the hard house tune with Eminem lyrics in – although I can’t for the life of me think what it is called but think the label is ANON. (I might be wrong). It was the way he mixed it in with another tune that just seemed perfect, what with the proper euphoric intense build-up and then when the bass kicked in, it was just sheer QUALITY. Everyone was jumping around, full of energy. yay.gif

It was absolutely amazing how Tony changed the atmosphere of the crowd on the dance floor. I can only describe it as though the crowd just had a massive glow around them and all I could feel was a ray of energy coming from these clubbers. All because of Tony.P. yes.gif

I remember saying to a few people at one point, whilst I was standing there taking in this euphoric rush, "Words cannot describe how this set is making me feel - this is something I would imagine seeing Tony play out at the NEC". At the time, words just could not describe how his set made me and others feels. It was like seeing another side to Tony.P's talent. I was so impressed and didn't want it to finish ! sad.gif

The night came to an end unfortunately, but by the time the lights were on every one still seemed to be in the 'up for it' mood. Like myself ! tongue.gif

We headed outside to wait for the coach to pick us up and take us back home, but we had to wait 30minutes as the driver was apparently scheduled to pick us up at 2am so we waited in the cold and chatted about the night.

The coach finally arrived and off home we went. Back in the coach must have been the funniest. Listening to the radio. After having a night clubbing to hard house music, it was all 80's style music in the coach - where everyone sang along, like the likes of Baz doing Wham impressions roflmao.gif

We got home around 3ish where myself, Bazz, Lisa and Tony headed back to the house where the party continued until late Sunday afternoon !

All in all - I will give this night 10/10 - purely because Tony excelled himself tonight, and I saw something I had never seen before. I take my hat off to the man and only wish him all the success in the future.

Maria.
