Hed Kandi’s sister label Stereo Sushi returns on point with their ninth instalment of deep House rollers for late night rockers. This time, running with the subtitle ‘Sashimi,’ the Stereo Sushi crew has upped the ante with an altogether rawer collection of dirty grooves. Moving into edgier territory, Sashimi offers up mouth-wateringly fresh slices of Electro tinged House, alongside all the big hitters from this summer.
The second set to sport the series’ new look, Sashimi focuses on the sharper edged cuts that have been dominating dance floors worldwide, providing a double serving of darker shades to compliment Hed Kandi’s exuberant light. Showcasing the sounds that can be heard at their fledgling club nights, their unquestionable cool is evident throughout Stereo Sushi Sashimi.
Mason’s ‘Exceeder’, already a favourite with Jesper Daelback, Tiga and Sander Klieneberg, is a tastefully crafted Dutch Electro Houser that gets CD1 underway in style, followed hard and fast by a pair of D-Ramirez re-rubs. First up, Sheffield’s finest takes on the legendary ‘S’ Man, adding a hefty chunk of electronic steel to ‘Lost,’ before sprinkling his magic on the Plump DJs superlative ‘Electric Disco,’ that has been smashing it, both in Ibiza and on every dancefloor in the UK and beyond. TV Rock & Dirty South Melbourne Militia’s remix of Fedde Le Grande’s ‘Put Your Hands Up For Detroit’ and the dubby and deep Tech House of Âme’s incredible ‘Rej’ guarantee that Stereo Sushi Sashimi, takes no prisoners.
CD2 continues Sashimi’s seamless trek through club culture’s raw extremities, with Pete Heller’s ‘Simpler’ taking pole position. Eric Prydz twists Switch’s ‘A Bit Patchy’ into a monstrous floor filler that has been an essential part of the summer, whilst Spektrum’s ‘Kinda New’ is given a pulsating re-fix courtesy of Tiefschwarz. Finishing up with Axwell & Ingrosso’s ‘Together’ and Philippe B vs. Todd Terry’s ‘Can You Feel It?’ (Can You Party) both reinterpreted by wunderkind Tocadisco.
With their second club night at Ministry of Sound on the 13th October looming, Stereo Sushi have assembled another triumphant collection that will ensure road block scenes in Elephant & Castle and see the series extend its reach still further.
