From ClubTheWorld.com Interviews
Laura T seems to have been hiding from us all for a while now. Having been out and a lot in the past playing alongside top Djs such as Harry “Choo Choo” , Brandon Block, Steve Lawler and Hybrid as well as running the popular event Sundazed (Famous Productions), you may have been wondering where she has been or if her set at Babablou on Friday is one of many more to come....Well read on!
I hear you have been taking a break from DJing over the past 6 months. What were your reasons for this? Did you just need a break from the lifestyle that comes with it all or are you just popping back for a quick visit? I think it was a bit of both. I took a much needed break after a very busy period djing because I started a new career. It was impossible to invest the energy and time it deserves. I’m probably only back for an experimental visit, but let’s see what happens when I play Friday! When you first started Djing you progressed from playing Hard Trance to Funky House. Where does your passion lie at the moment and what can we expect to hear from you behind the decks at Deeper? Before I took my break in September I was very much an electro girl. I’m playing for an hour on Friday at 1am, expect some tough, uplifting electro with a few classics thrown in. It will be high energy! I’m actually blo*dy nervous after so long out of the game (what exactly ARE people playing these days!?) And have you dabbled into the production side of things yet? Ashamedly I haven’t. I booked a course to learn the basics and never started it! Whoops After the success of your event Sundazed do you see yourself starting up your own promotion again? I have a few ideas for a new event but will wait and see how things go. I’d like to find myself back in New Zealand soon, so I may start it over there.
You have played along side some heavyweight DJ’s including Steve Lawler and Harry Choo Choo to name a few. What has been your most memorable moment and do you think you have the same passion for everything after your break from things? Most memorable moment would of definitely of been being so nervous before playing that main stage in Heaven (warming up for Steve Lawler and Hybrid) that I couldn’t even speak to my mates! They had massive screens up above and below the stage with a live filming of me playing, it was VERY cool! I’ve had to put it on the back burner for a while but I’ll always feel passionate about it, I’m really looking forward to playing Deeper and interested to see how I go… Is there one venue you haven’t managed to play at that you have your sites on? It would be pretty wicked to play on a float at the Berlin Love parade or during Rio Carnaval week. If anyone can hook me up, please get me involved! I’m guessing you have probably been keeping an eye on the London scene. Do you think the antipodean crowds are clubbing it as hard as they used to? Ahaha! Yeah I guess you could say that. I’ve calmed down completely and have been a bit of a hermit compared to what I used to be like. In saying that I did have quite a large one over Easter!
Hmmm as I haven’t played for ages I don’t know exactly what will full up the floor. I’ll find out this week! ...And DJ wise, who is really impressing you at the moment? My mate Lofty for his energy, drive and enthusiasm plus he’s just produced a wicked tune, I’m envious but proud of him.
