TRICKY DISCO

01.LUETZENKIRCHEN REMIX
02. THE MARTIN BROTHERS THIZZY DISCO REMIX

REL: 9TH JULY 2007
LABEL: iO MUSIC

One of the original acid house records to cross over and infiltrate the national charts way back in 1990 Tricky Disco written by Lee Newman and Michael Wells was originally released by the legendary Warp label to much critical acclaim also helping define the ‘sound’ of the early 90s rave scene as well as taking it to a larger audience.

Lee tragically died of Cancer in 1995 but left with her a wealth of music under such guises as 1000 Blinky Lights, Church Of Extacy, Elvis Jackson and the mighty Technohead.

These remixes, the first outside of the Warp stable are a fresh new look at the track incorporating elements of the original that still sound as fresh today as they did 17 years ago.

Beatport favourite Lutzenkirchen has been steadily carving a name for himself as one of Germany’s hottest up and coming producers through a steady stream of productions on the Great Stuff label remixing the likes of Coburn and alongside Tomcraft big hitters the Bloodhound Gang.
Here he lays down a grinding electro interpretation using snippets of the original vocal samples to great effect.

On the flip The Martin Brother’s aka Dirty Bird record boss (alongside Claude Von Stoke) Justin Martin and his brother Chris turn in a deeper remix reminiscent of their previous Dirty Birds; neat percussive tech house with whooping synths, add snippets of the original and you’ve got an upfront minimal club banger.

So there you have it two massive remixes of an absolute anthem. We dare you not to like it.
