The cause of nearly all toothpaste poisoning cases, she said, is fluoride.
Toothpastes without fluoride are practically harmless, but toothpastes with fluoride can cause a number of unwanted bodily hassles.
In small doses (mouthfuls), toothpaste-eating will usually cause calcium deposits to form on teeth. But the real problems don’t start until a person decides to ingest a whole tube.
Vomiting. Intestinal tears. Ulcers. Heartburn. These are only some of the ill effects of Crest-overdosing.
The reason behind all the misery?
When fluoride enters the body, it mixes with the stomach’s gastric juices. This dangerous equation results in a form of highly corrosive hydrochloric acid, which can eat right through stomach lining.
But wait, that’s not all.
Too much fluoride also can result in calcified ligaments, which will make bones brittle and fragile.

As a kid I once mixed toothpaste with soil (yes, the stuff from the garden) and ate it. Mmm nice & crunchy, and minty flavoured. And a couple of times I drank bubbles (that washing up liquid and water mixture in the small plastic bottles with the bubble-blower?). Not nice, don't try it. And when I was 3 I stuck a piece of chalk up my nose. Mum had to use tweezers to get it out. And then another time I stuck a dried pea up my nose. Mum & Grandma couldn't get it out and it swelled up inside my nose. They had to take me to A&E so the doctors could remove it. Am I in the right forum for this kind of talk??

Aye, but the experiment was on behalf of humankind. SOMEONE had to try it! I'd felt it was my duty
