why the f**k should i tell u!
|
its at this time of year when most clubbers go to beefa for sun, sea, sex and smashed nites!
yet going beefa for the clubs has neva really interested me. id like to go for experience but it doesnt really appeal to me. some peeps say that this is not a sign of a true clubber. so wtf is?
i go clubbin in quite a big way(ok so not every wk as pennies dont allow students to do much) but im dedicated to the clubs i goto, the events i experience and the music. i love my friends to pieces-inside n outside the clubs.
id much rather go on hol to relax. i can c most of the dj's who play out there-over in england. only diffence is the temperature.
just wondered what u think makes a true clubber, or if there is such a thing atall.
let the discussion... commence. x
"It is the 16th Century,
From all over Europe great ships sail West to conquer the New World - the Americas,
The men eager to seek their fortune,
To find new adventure in new lands.
They long to cross uncharted seas and discover unknown countries,
To find secret gold on a mountain trail high in the Andes,
They dream of following the path of the setting sun,
That leads to Eldorado, and the Mysterious Cities of Gold"

i would add...
3. is into the 'feeling' -- possibly that 1-ness u get when glazby drops hostile/pvd drops angel, and you KNOW that every single person in the club at that time is experiencing absolute euphoria for the moment.
u may get that feeling through love of the music, substances, or whatever (since lets face it.....drugs!)

Someone who goes to a club and enjoyed themselves.
could apply to someone who goes there, gets pissed, throws up, and considers it a good night

Yes I agree the alcohol and drugs comments are irrelevent.
irrelevent is the fact that drugs can also make you spew up and think you had a good night.
my point is, someone can get pissed, throw up, and consider it a good night.
you would not class that kind of person as a true clubber, though.
just because someone considers they have had a good night, does not necessarily mean they fit into the description of a 'true clubber' -- which they would do, based on that description.

Why not? I enjoy a night out at a club? Does this make me someone who just turns up, but isn't a clubber?
If someone enjoys getting pissed whilst clubbing then fair enough, if someone gets drugged up to the eyeballs and enjoyed them selves then fair play.
Who in your opinion would be a "true clubber" then?

Why this statement? Or is it a complaint?

person 'a' goes to a club, has a pint, has 4 bottles of water, dances a bit and enjoys themselves. person 'b' goes to a club, gets rat arsed on stella, climaxes in spewing up on the decks at 2:30, gets chucked out, and thinks they had a great laugh, and has enjoyed it all thoroughly -- spends the rest of the week telling the whole thing to their mates, who think it's hilarious. both enjoyed themself, but you wouldn't consider 'b' to be a 'clubber' as such. whether they get fuktarded on booze or class a's isn't relevent. so a 'true clubber' may well be 'someone who enjoys themselves', but enjoys themselves within limits -- ie limits of not disrupting the rest of the club. mind you, what do you have to be to be a 'true beer boy' ? is there a definition? is there a definition of a true clubber? or is the term 'true clubber' invented by ppl who want to be elitest? (no offence TB!!) i'z just throwing ideas around.

i guess i meant that some ppl who'd be considered 'true clubbers' wouldn't be there if the drugs weren't there -- some 'true clubbers' love the music, some love the drugs.

Well...if its a 9 inch nail...you know you can roughly measure stuff up to 9 inches long...if its only a piddley little 6 incher...then 6 inches is your max.

yes.
but, a portion of the nail will be in the club itself. now for 'good' measure, this will need to be taken account of. which you can't, can you?? eh? CAN YOU?
hang on i lost something...
oh, found it -->

alasdairm said: there's no such thing as a 'true clubber'. or everybody is a 'true' clubber. either way, it's meaningless.
I stand by my comment that it's about music and socialising. I guess by "true clubber", I mean "the sort of person who I expect to meet in a club". In other words, if everyone in the club was a "true clubber", it would have the ultimate atmosphere!
That's why I wasn't specific about drugs or whatever - as far as I'm concerned, people can do whatever they like as long as they don't disrupt other people's enjoyment (which would be inherently antisocial, and incompatible with my definition).
Quote:
people club for different reasons. the fact that you're into the latest and coolest dutch 'neo-tech-trance', know the name of the track and drink water, doesn't make your clubbing experience more 'real' or 'true' than the next guy full of stella who "doesn't even know who paul van dyk is..."
Totally agree. Being "into the music" doesn't mean being a trainspotter, or being into a "trendy" style of music. Clubbing isn't about whether you wear a fancy shirt or go cyber (although some people are "sheep" and just dress a certain way to follow the crowd).
Quote:
suggesting that one way is the 'true' or 'real' way to be a clubber is pretty arrogant if you think about it?
I don't think it's arrogant to say something like, "I think people who just go to a club to get off their faces are not true clubbers". Because it's the people who get themselves into a total state that give clubbing a bad name, and adversely affect the atmosphere. Likewise, posers who never lighten up, and are just trying to keep up their image, reduce other people's enjoyment. I swear some people don't actually know how to enjoy themselves...
Call me narrow-minded, but I like the notion of being able to smile at / say hello to anyone in a club and get a response! Not always the case!
