For the last 4 weeks I have been house-sitting for my parents as they've been on holiday and had 2 cats and a dog needing looknig after, as well as keepnig the house occupied.

unfortunately, one cat died in the 2nd week, the other one disappeared 5 days later. the dog now has a limp cos i was a bit too playful with him and I've only recently remembered to water the plants (or not so much remembered as reminded by dead leaves everywhere).

If anyone needs a house-sitter, or baby-sitter or anyone to do anything involve some vague element of responsibilty and care - you know where to come....

I just hope the dog makes it to next Friday when my parents get back.

Did you give the cat a proper send off

Or did you let the dog play with that too

the cats funeral was kinda funny. rigor mortis had set in well - its really odd...

anyway, my sister was round and we dug a wee hole, popped the cat in, but its legs were sticking out too much so it was all lopsided. picking the cat out again just didn't feel right in the 'swinging cardboard-cat' sense, so had to scrape some extra space for her feet and wedge and poke her in a bit.

i had a really vivid dream the next day that she had got out (and was looking healthy, young and well) but was a little upset with me about being squished in. i was so glad i didn't bust her legs with the spade...

Do you realise that in 2 weeks time ... just about the time your parents come back ... the cat will have worked it's way to the surface if it's not about 3/4 foot down

I;ve come to the recent conclusion, that despite my general confidence and feelings of capability, that i am in fact pretty hopeless, especially after i forgot to lock my car this weekend, with my mates entire record collection. oh how bad do i feel!

had a really good weekend tho, lots of fun and frollicks and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves rather a lot! hoorah!

Only just read your first post properly :$

It's kinda funny, but how the hell did the cat die ?

Are you going to tell us you have just realised that you fed the cat rat poisen or something ?

Are you going to get the back hander when your parents get home ?

lol

the cat was 23, and had been stumbling on her last legs for quite some time - parents were expecting her to go.

as for the other cat, she probably just left cos she'd had enough of the different environment (ie me instead of parents) and she wasn't needed as a nurse-cat anymore!
