Mine has to be Cafe Del Mar - Energy 52.

First heard this in the Buzz Bar in Leicester Square, London of all places. Back then there were lots of fit birds. Not now though, all mingers.

Cafe Del Mar is mine too. Only time I heard it in a club was Gatecrasher on my 18th birthday in 1998, and at Creamfields this year.

My all time fave choon has got to be Faithless' Insomnia. I've had so many memories of that, the best being when I saw them live at Brixton Academy.

We were upstairs in the seatng bit, and every time we got up and tried dancing the bouncers would shine a Maglite in our face. Then it came to the part for the keyboard solo.....everyone got up and the bouncers gave up!

if i had to add a tune thats not already been mentioned, it would have to be "josh wink - higher state of consciousness"

which if i remember rightly, was made in 1996 so is just inside this date bracket

I think it was the remix that was released in 1996, the original was surely before then as I remember it at sixth form and I was at Uni when I bought the 1996 remixes

1. Energy 52 - "Cafe Del Mar" (Original Three'N'One mix, none of this Nalin & Kane mediocrity)
2. Binary Finary - "1998" (a few good remixes, my fave was the Matt Darey job)

Johnny Shaker "Pearl River", hmm, not sure I see the big deal about that one...? I've heard worse I guess.

Other worthy mentions from the "golden era":

Veracocha - "Carte Blanche"
Ralph Fridge - "Paradise" (Gray mix)
William Orbit/Barber - "Adagio For Strings"
Push - "Legacy", also "Universal Nation" (can't remember which mix is best, I'm not sure any of them ever did it full justice...?)
Vincent De Moor - "Fly Away"
Chicane - "Offshore"

Got to agree with you there Col. This came on the car radio last night as i was driving home, and as i would have reached home before the song finished i did a D-tour so i could listen to it all.

Goose bumps. That tune makes me go weak.

Don't think you can have 1 tune tho, cause different tunes remind you of different times.

Benroastpork: Born Slippy was released originally in '95. Born Slippy Nuxx, which is the tune that I said, was released in '96. The difference being that Nuxx includes vocals.

if i had to add a tune thats not already been mentioned, it would have to be "josh wink - higher state of consciousness"

which if i remember rightly, was made in 1996 so is just inside this date bracket

original came out in 1995, the remixes were pants!

You said it! my copy was on 'strictly rhythm' of all labels

Lost Tribe - Gamemaster (Original Mix) is my choice

3 n 1 Mix of Cafe Del Mar is best
PVD's mix of binary finary 98 was best
And that bootleg / white label remix of Born Slippy that JFK has been caning of late is best

Finbar Sow and thou shalt reap, oh brother.
