Take off your rose coloured specs people
it pisses me off when when people who dont even listen to trance slag it off as not being as good as it used to be..
how the fuck would you know? scenes develop and change as time goes on (well..some do ). trance has got a lot more proggy since 98/99 so a lot of the tunes are less obvious now. to tell you the truth, i think trance was the cheesiest it ever was in that era. a lot of top anthems came out then, yes, but there was still as much shit out there too. loads of well commercial crap that got in the chart, so it made it seem like this was the biggest thing ever..
all these fucking comments like 'it was better when i was into it' stink of fucking shit to me...
thats like me saying the best era of techno was 96/97/98...cos thats when i was dj'ing it. it means a lot to me cos its an era i can relate to a lot...
WAKE UP AND SMELL WHAT YOU ARE SHOVELLING..

I think 2003 has been a wikid year for trance.
complete agreement mate..
hence Tiesto being 'the man of the moment'. he's pretty much single handedly reshaping the whole scene over the last two years... dragging it out of cliche-land (99-01) and inspiring loads of producers to take chances and put out some wicked stuff..
he was playing igor s 'boomerang' and DK 'murder was the bass' a long time b4 i heard it at any hard-dance night! at the same time as pushing tunes like motorcycle 'as the rush comes' and tomcraft 'loneliness' and wicked anthemic stuff.. the quality of music in the trance scene is better than ever!

Because there's more easy money to be made out of middle-of-the-road hard house!
You make the incorrect assumption that "more people liking X" means "X must be good". A lot of people like Blazing Squad...
In fact I would go as far as to say, the fact that less people are into trance now, actually suggests that it is better now... at least the days of the cheesy overblown commercial "big riff" trance are all but over.

i'll agree with that totally. probably why we're gettin better trance too, as it's not the "big thing" so not every producer and their dog are making it. So trance now isn't really being made to cash in some easy money because it will sell, rather because producers enjoy making it. well that's what i think anyway.
