since installing a new cd burner in our pc, i seem to have a problem burning cd's. They copy fine but once completed using video vegas they won't eject. They only way around this is to turn the pc off and eject them once pc starts up again. It used to work fine with the old burner, and still ejects using other programs, just not video vegas.

Any suggestion????

Is it video vegas or vegas video? If it is the sony vegas video then try going to there site and downloading an update for your version. Is the program recognising it as the correct cdrw model - never used vv but older versions of Nero did have similar problems with Yamaha scsi writers.

try this link mate:

it may seem stupid, but is there a box to check that says 'eject media when finished' and is it checked?

but I'd defo make sure that your new writer is compatible with the program

however nero no longer works...ha ha

but this new cd copying package from Sony we got with the burner seems better than nero to tell you the truth and actually works

I know there is one in the preferences on nero, was just a thought there may be one in the software you use.

If it's all working good now then it doesn't matter

As for nero not working....it may not support your new writer, that happened when I changed mine but then realised the new nero disc had updated software on it!

i'd be suspicious that it's down to the "eject media" option. but good idea.

probly something like:

Writing speed too high
burning is set to track-at-once or session-at-once. try "disc-at-once".

*mumbles things about making sure dma is enabled on the drive*. nero should be version 5.5 or 6. using XP i take it?

yep. the version of nero you have doesn't support the cd burner ur using.

u need to download a 4 byte (or something) patch just to tell the software information about the recorder. easy - and standard.

the image recorder is for making an 'image file' of the 700MB (or whatever) onto the hard drive, which you can then burn onto a cd at any time.

With Xp its all drop and drag and then you run a burning wizard, very easy!

no, Tony.

XP has very limited burning capabilities. you don't want to use XP's built in burning capabilities.

XP's built in burning does not finalize discs until you can't fit any more on the disc.

So if you want to burn a 50MB file, and finalize the disc to make it easier to read in another drive, and to make sure no one adds anything to the disc, you can't.

XP also doesn't give you control over the gap between tracks. so if you want to burn a disc with a 2s gap, you can't.

and more things i can't remember.

that's what happened when I replaced my writer, I only thought after a while to check what version the Nero disc was at that came with it.....found out it was a different version of Nero, installed it and all was fixed

the patch should be available from the Nero website!
