if you notice the text disappear when u've click the smilie, then y dont u just right click the textbox (the bit where you type your reply in) and click undo from the popup menu that appears

well if u click 1 of the animated little icons and it (for some unknown reason) deletes some of the text that u typed, right click your text and a menu will appear.
click 'undo' from that menu and your text will re-appear.
