Having been a Partridge fan for years I'm starting to think that maybe The Office is funnier- any thoughts?

I love sitting at my desk on a monday morning doing serious work, remembering just how f*cked up I was on the weekend. That's what makes it all worthwhile...

It was rather sad but when I took some time out and went travelling the person I missed most was Alan Partridge...

... funnily enough my relationship with my girlfriend didn't survive that revelation!

There's yet another top 100 thing going on on the bbc- comedy this time- I'm hoping to god something like Dad's Army doesn't win.

My top five British comedies:
1. Fawlty Towers
2. The Office
3. Alan Partridge
4. The New Statesman (Rik Mayall as Alan B'Stard)
5. Porridge

Comedy genius award- Chris Morris for 'The Day Today' and 'Brass Eye'.

Must admit i'm getting fed up of Fools & Orses - the twats are milking it waaaay too much. Hence why Faulty is back at the top of my list again

I would do a top 5, but then I'd have to do a top 10, then a top 5 films etc..

You probably have to have worked in an office at some point to appreciate just how realistic some of the characters are! Honestly, the number of characters in that program that are uncannily like people I've met at past workplaces (or at university) is uncanny!

Did anyone see the Xmas special? I thought the final episode was fantastic.

My top five comedies goes something like:

1. The League of Gentlemen
2. Father Ted
3. The Office
4. Red Dwarf
5. The Day Today

Jarve it was "24 hour party people" which was an absolute shite of a film..but coogan was and is always very funny!

Although The Office is very funny and clever..i still think Alan Partridge was the best by miles! Especially the first series wen he was staying in the hotel

Some of it is funny, but some of it is a far-inferior, and quite blatant, rip off of The League of Gentlemen.

James- that was the film with Shaun Connery- I presume he's referring to the TV programme?

To be honest I just didn't get it at all...

Red Dwarf is a good suggestion though.

I spent New Year with my younger sister- we went to Turnmills and then got up to mischied back at my flat- we were so monged that we set ourselves a task a day to achieve. Task one was to go and buy 'Father Ted' on DVD (I'd never seen it). Task achieved I watched 13 episodes over the next two days and thought it was fantastic...

Straight into the Top ten with a bullet...

Best book/film about men and their fascination with lists is 'High Fidelity'...

I love sitting at my desk on a monday morning doing serious work, remembering just how f*cked up I was on the weekend. That's what makes it all worthwhile...

I thought '24 hour party people' was fantastic...

Steve Coogan is the actor's name.

If you listen to the laughter in Episode 4 of I'm Alan Partridge (the second series)(the one with the 'Bank Holiday Bondathon') you will hear my laughter all over the soundtrack (I was wetting myself during filming)...

Don't forget Alan's first chat show series- 'Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge'.

He is still the first chat show host to shoot a guest LIVE on BBC television...

yes ANOTHER fine idea Andy - YES, DEFO - I used to go to these a fair bit with people from work - stuff like 11 O'Clock show, Springer's chat show etc.. - studio just up the road Well easy to apply for as well / free

GOOD IDEA - we need a CTW rep to arrange this stuff on-going methinks !

James- you've made my day. Coogan and Morris would be my ideal dinner party guests...

I think a CTW trip to see something being filmed followed by a summer party (can you legally play music loud in central london parks?) is a great idea...

Must get 24 hour party people on DVD come to think of it.
