it has nothing to do with time travel then explain why the film talks about time travel (donnie actually talks to the science teacher and mentions TIME TRAVEL) and why on the dvd it says philosophy of time travel as one of the extras in the explination??????????
LMFAO fool!
I think what you might be gettin confused with here is that time travel has different forms. Similar to what could be the matrix, i.e. there are many different versions happening that are all planned out. But you see the problem with that is how do you know the one you are seein is the correct version and not just a fake version.
What the film talks about is that every living creature's path is projected infront of them and if we can see it then we can theoritcally see our future and hence time travel as we can see into the future. But it fails to realise that for the concept to be founded you have to believe in fate. But fate is has problems to because fate means that we have can't make choices as it's all mapped out for us. So how could we "make the right choice" if it's already mapped out.
So if you don't believe in fate you wont believe in this theory of time travel.
personally i prefer time travel using super-strings.
plz dont get him started, jus agree with him, he thinks because he did a level philosphy that he knows it all, he may be right this time but in many cases......

his hair was a helmet, he flicked it and it just went straight back into place. it had be starched by the smoke or something. He had this kinda retro mullet thing going on, as his hair was long all over but it was a helmet shape pointing to the back.
OMG when he ate those sweets in the 1 to 1 lessons, i could have got up and smacked him, HOW LONG CAN ONE SWEET LAST!!!!!!

as i afore mentioned my friend, parallel universes is a theory spawned out of time travel. I suggest you look this up properly instead of watchin the extras on the dvd like a good little lad now.
Way I see it....who knows more about the film, you or the person who made it
Im gonna stick with the views of the director for now thanks
As for time travel+parallel universes..... you have it wrong way round - time travel comes from parallel uiniverses... a parallel universe would be a place where you made a different choice agreed? now time travel would be the ability to go back and alter the choice which you made - you cant travel to a choice you have not made! This is why the timeline continues even though Donnie is in a different universe!

a parallel universe like you said is where another choice is made. but also remember different conditions might apply, hence why the theory states there are many universes. But what you fail to realise is that in the time travel theory which uses say a parallel universe it shows that there can be many versions of you all doing different things because of the choices you've made. But to use this as a form of time travel you would need to know what path you were walkin, i.e. which one is really you and not the fake one, as it were.
i feel the director of this movie then was probably taking these theories and pushin them together to make a good story, which they have done.
but what you also fail to realise is that the fundimental princable of time travel, is this, to actually go back in time you would only be able to go back to the point that the creation of time travel was invented.
but you mention that donnie is in a different universe. Then if he was, then why didn't he meet himself and create a paradox and then be able to totally change his future? Or maybe Frank was him? But then that wouldn't make sense as it looked nothing like him, which it should look similar if it was a parallel universe of course.
Then if he was living a different universe then why didn't the people within his universe miss him and notice the distruction that had happened when he came back?
but like i said before the whole theory is fucked if you don't believe in fate as that is what it is relying on.
to all those hermaphrodites out there. GO FUCK YOURSELVES!!

Because everyone was in that parallel universe! Thats why they all remembered what had gone on at the end of the film when 'mad world' is playing!
Frank was simply another 'guide' like gretchin to help him realise what he was... they showed him the path that he must take (which you mentioned in the above post as being a pre-requisit of timetravel)
Saying that, nobody has invented timetravel yet so theories are nothing more then guess-work.... there is a lot of room for error in it and the actual answer to (if it even IS possible!) consequences and laws of timetravel may be outside of the scope of the human mind....

how you can state that with such apparent impunity is beyond me. time travel and the concept of parallel universes are, for the time being, purely theoretical.
the ideas are bent even further as, here, they're being discussed in an entirely fictional context - indeed, a movie for which clear answers is a low priority...

Im not saying its true.... im saying thats what the directors commentary puts across as being the films 'point' as it were....
