Well what can I say, I am not over keen on these two fella's style of sets of late, but read this statement they left earlier on another message board, Im well impressed & shows that some dj's do take time to listen & do take negative critism as a learning curve & not insult. Good on em I say
What they said:
*Well, I think I'll remember this thread for all the wrong reasons.
To be fair though, when we look on HF after a set has been well recieved in London, it's always good to read the positive comments so it would be naive of us not to take note of the negative comments too.
In fairness to the 9 or so people who made negative comments about the set last Saturday, none of you are just "having a go" at us for the sake of it (and thank you for that). You're all essentially saying the same thing, too many drops, which in turn spoils the flow of the set.
I will admitt that alot of the German and Italian stuff we have loved playing over the past few years has changed over the past 6 months. It now tends to lean towards squeezing 4 or 5 drops into a tune instead of the 1 or 2 like they used to. This makes it almost impossible to mix two of these tunes together without stumbling across a drop every minute or so.
This hasn't been a problem in the rest of the country, but when so many of you come on HF hilighting the same issue with some of our sets in London we've got to hold our hands up and take note of what is being said.
I know there are alot of DJ's on this forum and I think all of you know nobody would go out to play a set to intentionally piss people off. You always want your sets to be well received (by the whole crowd not just a large part of the crowd).
With this in mind, Ian and I have agreed to make our sets in the Capitol more "London Friendly", i.e. less drops, more beats.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. We hope you have a wicked Christmas ansd perhaps we'll see some of you on NYD.
All the best
Gary (Juice) & Ian (Cally) *

i think their main thing is their enthousiasm behind the decks and character whilst mixing. Recently i have noticed their mixing quality diminish on several events. I have been told however by them on another forum that at one of the events the monitors were fcking up leading to the mixing going a bit downhill.

i have to say i'm impressed that they 1) had the balls to comment on the criticism 2) and most importantly have said they will take it on board to make a more 'crowd friendly' DJ set
Whether they do remains to be seen, but if they're not too big to make a post like that then i'm sure they're not too big to vary their style a little

a good dj should be able to get past that though.
moniitors fuck up all over the place, if your paying someone a grand for a set they should be able to make do.
its the old learnt to mix on technics syndrome.
anything less than perfect and theyre like "hold up"

although one reason i stopped tidy clubbing is cos every single tune was bang, hang, build up, pause, bang and it was doing my head in. i didn't actually notice their stuff dropping as often, but i did notice it was slightly 'different' from standard hard/tidy stuff. also they didn't TALK all over it on saturday.
this does kinda highlight the fact that you never get what you want, you just get to choose from whats on offer.
I thought C&J were nukleuz not tidy
They dont talk over themselves. Its MCs who do that. Their event bionic has hosts who MC over the top of djs who dont mind it.

yeh, the first time I saw them i thought wow, they are different, but thats it, half the prob is their sets/set!! they have been playing in London, is more a stage act & once you've seen it once, twice it becomes boring!! Not to mention the set is the same all the time & they are playing more regularly for Frantic now & peeps are getting tired of it & are not into hardstyle, Frantic when I first started going was very trancey, but now it's got harder, I guess will is trying to introduce new hard stlyes of dance, good on him, but as I say the hardstyle/C&J are not working!!
I would say to peeps check them out cos they are entertaining behind the decks, but seen once for their act is enough!!!IMO!!
