yeh but they ain't active Mark????

i wanna be able to pug em straight into the back of my mixer without the use of an amp. I may as well just stick with what i've got if i were to buy those.

cheers anyway

Or you could get Berhinger Truths for about £300, they a pretty f*cking good. I know Berhinger isn't the best name in sound equipment but these speakers are decent quality.

Or save yourself a grand and buy some Mackie 824 or Dynaudios BM6A's Now they are f*cking amazing !

Why active monitors? Is it a matter of convenience (no room for the amp)?

You could get a fantastic amp & passive monitors for that price. I paid about £350 for a pair of Spirit Absolute Zeros plus a Samson Servo-170 amp (these are probably both cheaper now). Had them for about 5-6 years now, they're fantastic.

Sorry I know very little about active speakers so I can't help you really.

No not a matter convenience mate, I will still run my other 4 speakers from my main amp, i just want a pair of seperate monitors that i can plug into my mixer, so i can use them purely as monitors instead of listening to the main speakers. I know it's only on a small scale but still want it set up correctly, so i can contol the volume seperately from the monitors than that of the other speakers. Don't really want 2 amps so thats why i was opting for active. cheers anyway mate

Ian: is the bass quiet heavy on the ones you use as i've heard form various people that it is a little too much.... guess its down to personal opinions really?

looked at the Berhinger Truths over xmas and noticed that the eq's etc could be adjusted for each individual speaker (like that alot), can this be done with the M1's?????

asked a few people they have said:

Ideal for mid- to large-sized control rooms where high volume and serious bass response are required

yups cant go wrong w /Samson.
you see 'speaker' design is fairly straight forward - the
dificulty is MATCHING the AMP to the SPKS - thus
ACTIVE monitor spks have an AMP which is PRECISELY
matched to the spkr (and itsin the spk cab 2)- geddit?

samson amps are wicked!!!!so might be a safe bet

hope that helps....look pretty good to me thou mate
