That Public Domain's "Bass in the place London" tune was a cover of the classic New Order track "Confusion"?

New Order were well ahead of their time.

actually yes.

I do believe it was a specific remix with it on and not the original as well but i may be talking out of my arse.

After the film blade which used the "new order - confusion", public domain made their version. At the same time the warp brothers and Aquagen made a track with the same sample called phatt Bass which imo was far superior to bass in the place but didnt get the marketing that the public domain version did.

B4 someone says the other version was pants, ur prob thinking of the aquagen remix which was pants but the warp brothers version rocks.

However better than all of these imo is the ariel remix of the warp brothers vs Aquagen version that was released as a b-side to "We Will survive" by the warp brothers.

no they werent. it was a pump panel remix. so credit goes to new york techno peeps damon wild, dan zamani and tim taylor. they also put out records under the 'planet of drums' name and started the 'missile' recordlabel. they were very big in the techno scence around95/96...

sorry to be a picky bastard, but damon wild put out my first record for me, so ill make sure he gets his credit!!!

just realised that that doesnt make a lot of sense. What i meant was thanks mod1 for remembering the people who remixed the original confusion and introduced the now famous tune.

mod is right - the remix is what made it great, the original sounds nothibng like it!

Also, wasnt the 'bass in the place london' originally by erik b + rakim?? Heard they had to re-do it as they wouldnt let them have permission for it cos the track was so shit

I'm sure the 'Bass in the place London' line came from another song as well. Went something 'bass in your face' instead.

Maybe that was Public Domain as well. Just wish they hadn't gone so damn commercial as they had potential.

As for Aquagen, their non-cheesy tunes were quite good, 'Saturn 8' was a top trance tune, but only had a radio edit

the actual name of the public domain version is "bass in the place" not mentioning london at all. Prob cos the B'n'G vs Musico remix on the B-side had a female vocal saying "bass in the place people" rather than london. Far superior remix than the original imo. When im mixing it however it allways freaks me out as theres a sound in the background that is identical to a mobile sound so im always removing my headphones trying to find my phone, even tho i dont use that sound.

In the 'Mena
The public domain track originally sampled "Bass in the place london" from a Public enemy track. However as stated public enemy wouldnt clear the sample, so it was redone with a pants new vocal.
